Which Glass Holds the Most Water? Your Answer Might Reveal If You’re a Giver or a Taker

articleUseronMay 12, 2026

Let’s take a closer look.

Understanding the Puzzle
All four glasses seem to be filled to about the same level. However, each one has a different object inside:

  • Glass A contains a paperclip
  • Glass B contains a baseball
  • Glass C contains an eraser
  • Glass D contains a wristwatch

At first, you might choose based on which glass appears the fullest. But the key concept here is displacement—how much space each object takes up inside the water.

The Scientific Answer
The correct choice is Glass A.

Why? Because the paperclip is the smallest object and displaces the least amount of water. This allows more actual water to remain in the glass compared to the others. Larger objects, like the baseball in Glass B, occupy more space, leaving less room for water—even if the water level looks the same. So while all the glasses appear equally full, Glass A truly holds the most water.

What Your Choice Might Reveal About You
Now for the fun part. Even though there is a logical answer, many people choose based on instinct or perception. That’s where personality interpretations come in—not as strict science, but as a playful way to explore thinking styles.

If you chose A (Paperclip):
You likely think in a logical and detail-oriented way. You tend to look past appearances and focus on underlying principles. Practical and observant, you trust facts over assumptions.

If you chose B (Baseball):
You may rely more on first impressions and visual cues. You trust what you see and make decisions quickly. You’re confident, decisive, and not afraid to act without overanalyzing.

If you chose C (Eraser):
You probably balance logic with creativity. You consider different possibilities before making a decision and stay open to changing your mind. Thoughtful and adaptable, you avoid rushing to conclusions.

If you chose D (Watch):
You might lean toward deeper or more symbolic thinking. Instead of focusing purely on logic, you look for meaning and context. You value time, experiences, and emotional insight.
